About the studio
A Cape Town workshop making bespoke kitchens and furniture
Holly Wood Design Studio started with a simple idea: the person who designs your kitchen should know exactly how it gets made. More than twenty-five years on we still work that way, and what began with kitchens now includes cabinetry and a full collection of handcrafted furniture.

Our story
From a small joinery shop to kitchens and furniture
We began as a joinery shop in Retreat making cupboards for local homes. Clients kept asking who could design the whole kitchen, not just build it, so we brought design in-house and never looked back.
Today the studio handles the full arc of a project, whether kitchen, cabinetry or furniture: measuring your space, drawing it in 3D, pricing it exactly, manufacturing it a few kilometres from where it will be installed, and fitting it ourselves.
That closeness is the point. When the designer, the joiner and the installer all work for the same studio, the drawing and the finished piece are the same thing.

How we work
Four things we do not compromise on
One designer, start to finish
You deal with the same person from first sketch to final snag list. Nothing gets handed over and lost.
Made where we can see it
Everything is manufactured in our own Retreat workshop, so quality control is a walk across the floor.
Honest materials
Solid timber frames, moisture-resistant board where it belongs, real stone, proper hardware with real warranties.
Exact quotes, not surprises
Option B gives you a fixed, itemised quote off a 3D design, so what you sign is what you pay.
The showroom
Come and open the drawers
Our Retreat showroom has full kitchen displays, handle samples, countertop slabs and the furniture collection on the floor. It is the fastest way to narrow down a finish. Five minutes in person beats an hour of swatches on a screen.
